Beautifully stated, Peter, and so true. I, too, am grappling with the effects of this situation while helping to plan my daughter Hallie's wedding this coming January. As much as we would like all of our friends and family members to attend this joyous celebration, we will require that all in attendance be vaccinated. Period. It is truly a sad state that this pandemic has been treated not as a public health issue, uniting us in a fight against a deadly disease, but as a political football used to inflame and divide us as a nation, as a people, all in the interest of generating big bucks for political interest groups and increasing the ratings and revenue of those in the less than scrupulous media whom we have come to know and despise. God help us all.

Peter, you share our frustration with this insane situation. One of my best friends refuses to get vaccinated, when I tell her I don’t want her to die she replies “I could die any time anyway”. We’ve been very good friends for over 34 years, I didn’t know until five years ago that she was Republican! The fact that this very intelligent woman and other people I know were avid Trump supporters was shocking. And the fact that you have close family members that are in that camp is sad. I’m so sorry you and your daughter and family are going through this, weddings should be at time of joy and togetherness. Thanks for your thoughts, I agree.
