This is our third Christmas here in Madrid and for us, like for all of you, one of the strangest. Our girls are back in NY and LA and not here to celebrate with us for the first time but we’re so thankful that they’re well and to have our son Thomas with us again. He’s a proper Madrieño with a job & life here and gives us a bit of a family anchor…So we enjoyed the simplest of things together…food, wine, laughter, games, a walk in the Retiro, an extended family Zoom, and of course music. Music is part of the glue that holds us together and during the pandemic amidst the quarantines it has served as a release and a refuge. Without question Susan is the family musician par excellence, but the girls are not far behind: Singers, dancers, composers and skilled players all. Thomas and I lag a bit behind but we gamely try to keep up. Susan had the great idea that this year our Christmas greeting should be something musical and so when you click the link below you’ll get our little greeting made especially for all of you. (If you’re on our Christmas Card list it will likely hit you twice, so apologies for the repeat performance).
We all wish you peace, love and hope, truly the promises of this special season no matter your faith and tradition. And as we finally end this year of trial, together with all of you look forward to better, saner and safer times for one and all.
Wonderful melody and makes me feel warm and fuzzy. My oldest sister Melodye played the flute and piccolo, she was in her high school marching band and they played in the Rose parade! And I remember you playing piano a lot in Columbus. You both have such talent and I thoroughly enjoyed it. 💜🎄🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶
Outstanding!
